~Can you hide who you are?
    Take a look at yourself
Can you stop what will be?
    You think running will help?
Can't give up on the past
    When the past never ends
Now the dead that you raised
    Live in me~

    World of Origin:
    Silent Hill

    Name:
    Ignazio D'Aleo/Ignis Fatuus

    Age:
Appears mid to late twenties; as a manifestation, he's ageless.

    Gender:
    Male

    Species:
    Humanoid/Draconic Manifestation

    Appearance:

At first glance, Ignis appears to be a normal human, six feet tall and fair-skinned. His hair is black with red highlights, reaching shoulder length with bangs that cover the left side of his face. The right eye that's seen is black, and his cheekbones are prominent. The eye that's hidden is the first indicator to his true nature: a glowing red with black sclera and a pupil that resembles a simplified version of the Halo of the Sun, with a deep scar across it from when it was stabbed. His manner of dress indicate an oddly wealthy nature: a white dress shirt, a red cravat worn slightly undone at the neck, black gloves, black dress pants, and a pair of black boots that always seem neatly polished. Over this is a black longcoat with two coattails, with the more complex symbol of the town's cult branded on the back. (Art: 1 and 2 by ScruffyTurtles.)

Though a humanoid manifestation, Ignis has a second form called the Zmeu, one more fitting to his monstrous nature. His skin becomes deathly pale, scales forming on the arms and around the neck, his hair much more wild, his clothes torn and bloody rags, and his figure skeletal. His lips are blackened and his teeth are crooked, his mouth gagged by a bloody cloth. He's eyeless, like a sheet of flesh covering where they would be, but his red eye appears on his abdomen, giant and vertical. His hands are made up of dull, rusted blades that resemble claws, and his feet are like bird talons on lizard feet. On his back are wings, disfigured and membranes torn, but resembling those of a dragon; and a prehensile tail, thin and fleshy like a tentacle, but with a sharp end point like a knife. He has reptilian qualities in this form, occasionally creeping on all fours, leaping about and latching onto walls. His head constantly twitches, his body contorts to crooked proportions, and he's unable to speak aside from inhuman shrieks and snarls, except for one name.

    "Audrey..."

    Personality:

On the surface, Ignis seems to be a kind and amiable man, charismatic with his eloquent way of speaking and a flair for the dramatic. However, under this mask is a sadistic, manipulative, and cruel monster, both figuratively and literally. Even to those who know the truth about him, his friendly facade never falters, becoming arrogant and condescending in nature. A complete narcissist, he refuses to believe he's anything lesser than he really is, and he's incapable of feeling empathy for others, viewing them as 'insects' that are beneath him.

Ignis has a constant need for control, in more ways than one. Though Audrey is his primary target, he will go after others that happen to catch his interest, innocent young women being his preferred target. When it comes to his manifestor, Ignis has an unhealthy fixation with her, manipulating her emotionally and reinforcing her reclusiveness and self-doubt in order to keep her all to himself. To anyone who comes to befriend her, he will develop a deep and bitter hatred for them, doing anything in his power to get them out of the picture.

To others against him, Ignis will only fight back if he has to, retreating when things don't go in his favor. Otherwise, he focuses on bringing his foes down with words, not at all afraid to bring up personal weaknesses and psychological issues that they hide, believing that everyone else is as much of a 'monster' as he is. Unfortunately, his smug and arrogant demeanor, on top of his obsession over a single girl, tend to lead to his failings, underestimating his opponents and overlooking the dangers in certain situations.

When his facade truly shatters, his demeanor takes a complete 180. Gone is his affable nature, and in its place is an enraged, ill-tempered, destructive side that lashes out at everyone like an immature child. Even when things going wrong are by his own doing, he refuses to admit to being at fault and blames everyone else for his downfalls. When he completely snaps, it's only then that he resorts to assaulting others, in the worst ways possible...

    Powers:

Ignis wields the power of illusion, contained within his red eye. This occurs when he reveals his eye to his victims and wills a bright flash; if anyone's sight is caught in its vicinity, they will be trapped in a hallucination fabricated by himself.  They can be minor, tricking the target into believing him to be in sight, only to catch them off-guard from behind, or they can be major weaknesses and fears revealed to them, even making them feel pain within the illusion. With the aid of mirrors, he can form an illusion around himself, making him appear as someone else and disguising his voice.

However, this can all backfire depending on the willpower of the victim and whether they see it coming, spot the thread to break the illusion, or if they take notice of his actions when pretending to be someone else. Complex illusions, such as the aforementioned use of his target's fears, take up more concentration and can potentially drain him. This also applies when he takes up disguises; the more different they look from him, the harder they are to use. Just as mirrors can aid, they can even be used against him by bouncing the illusion back, though this has no effect on him other than a minor distraction. This power was obtained through a bloody ritual he performed, and seems to draw some influence from the Otherworld.

Aside from illusions, the red eye also allows him to look into other people's minds, reading their thoughts and emotions. With some focus on his part, he could also look into their memories, even those that are supposedly locked away or scattered. Because of the concentration needed for this, he uses this when his targets are unsuspecting, in order to see what they're like before making himself known, or when he's talking down to his victims, rarely in combat unless he has to.

Another power that he gained through the ritual, much like his namesake, is dark pyrokinesis, allowing him to will black flames of his personal hell into being. Unlike regular fire magic, his black fire is much more destructive, incinerating normal fires and even water. This either comes in streams formed by a wave of his arm, columns sent out at all sides, or forming into weapons for him to use temporarily. The flames also act as his means of travel; by gathering fire around himself, he'll disappear in the following burst, either teleporting some distance away, or reappearing on another world entirely. He's immune to normal fire as a result of this power and can even resist water/ice, though he has a weakness to any type of holy magic, and other types of fire magic can still damage him.

In the case he transforms into the Zmeu, Ignis is unable to use his powers. This is because of the concentration required for them, and he's completely unstable in this form. As a tradeoff, his speed is supernaturally enhanced, and he has a degree of super strength and resilience despite his skeletal form.

Finally, due to his stance as a manifestation, as well as another part of the ritual, Ignis cannot be permanently killed. He can die by other means other than old age, but he will resurrect in the place where he conducted the ritual. The only way he can truly die is when he's no longer needed by his manifestor, something that he desperately tries to avoid.

    Abilities:

As a general performer, Ignis is a good actor and can be a very convincing liar, capable of hiding the usual signs (shifting eye contact, twitching, stuttering in tone) and maintaining a believable story in order to twist the truth. Because of this, he can keep up the act for a good while to get people on his side, moreso if he's reading into their memories to his advantage. Sometimes, his acting can border on overdramatic if he gets too into it, though he does his best to keep from getting too hammy. When someone does catch onto his lies, however, he drops the act without a cinch.

Even with his magic-based illusions, Ignis is a talented magician without them. Aside from the usual card tricks, he's quite adept at sleight of hand, keeping the perception of others focused on one thing while making them blind to parts of their surroundings, even what seems to be glaringly obvious. This little trick allows him to steal some things without anyone noticing.

He's also musically talented with the piano and can sing exceptionally well. When he performs for others, he can charm the masses with his song as easily as he can with words.

In combat, Ignis is quick and agile, heightened further if he's using his illusions to appear moving at blinding speeds. Since he prefers using his powers while fighting, he makes use of this by going for quick, weaker blows that catch his opponents off-guard, following by trapping them in an illusion. His agility is further strengthened when he becomes the Zmeu, constantly moving at blurring speeds that otherwise make up for his disfigured wings.

    Weapons:
Ignis has no weapons of his own, only using his black flames as a means to fight. As the Zmeu, his bladed claws and prehensile tail act as permanent weapons for him.

    Equipment:
Ignis carries the usual items needed for when he performs as a magician (a deck of cards, ribbons, very thin string, etc.). He also carries a photo of Audrey, taken during her time with him without her knowing.

    Awareness:
    Yes

    History:

Ignazio D'Aleo is a manifestation subconsciously fabricated by Audrey Crowe when she appeared in Silent Hill, his appearance and outward personality based solely on traits that the girl found attractive. However, he was conjured for the sole purpose of keeping her trapped in her deluded fantasies, representing her doubts and fears under the guise of her 'Prince Charming'.

When Ignazio first awoke, he found himself within a run-down mansion, alone and without any memory of who he was other than his name. With nothing to go on, he ventured his way into the town, wandering aimlessly while looking for anything that could give him answers, all while fighting through the monsters that resided. What disturbed him the most wasn't the monsters or the lack of people in the deserted town; it was the fact that he felt no fear, towards the monsters or his situation. In fact, he didn't feel anything; no care or sense of purpose. Only complete emptiness.

Just as he began to question the point in all of this, contemplating the idea of just ending it there, he finally came across a clue: a flyer that advertised himself as a performing magician, with a show that was supposed to go on in the Lakeside Amusement Park. However, upon making his way over there, he found that there was no show to be held, no audience to perform to. The park was as empty as the pit of his soul, his supposed sign turning out to be a total waste of time.

Well...not quite, as it turned out. Before he could leave, further despondent in his seemingly pointless quest, his attention was brought to the only other visitor: a mysterious cloaked boy who spoke with an exceedingly dark tone. Though the boy gave him no clear answer, he hinted at the man's nature as a being conjured within the town, telling him to just accept his role if he really wanted a purpose so badly, just as the boy accepted his role of being "Darkness." As Ignazio argued the fact that he didn't even know what his role was supposed to be, the boy left him with a cryptic response:

"Maybe you should go ask the girl by the lake."

Confused and unsure whether to follow what could be another wild goose chase, Ignazio ultimately made his way to the shores of Toluca Lake, where he finally found the answers he needed. There he found her: his manifestor, Audrey Daniela Crowe, washed up on the shore and laying comatose. He did everything he could to wake her, but nothing, not even the threat of a monster, would make her stir.

After spending the whole trek feeling empty, he finally felt a need, a compulsion, to protect her and keep her safe by whatever means necessary...to keep her trapped in her own delusions.

And so, following the boy's advice, Ignazio accepted the role he was given, embracing his existence as a manifestation and nightmare to a sad little girl. A simple purpose, but one that he took up wholeheartedly.

He took her to the mansion that he woke up in, which had gone from appearing in a state of disrepair to a lavish estate thanks to the power of the town. For two weeks, he watched over her while she slept, all while knowledge of her life, the things she loved most, and even the nature of the Great Convergence poured into his mind little by little. It was with this knowledge that he had made sure that anything that would tip her off to her being in Silent Hill were hidden away or promptly disposed of, knowing that she would leave him if she were to find out the truth.

Finally, after those two weeks, the girl awoke from her long slumber, finding herself in a lush mansion fit for a little princess, drawn to a man that she found very attractive. As expected, she didn't suspect once that she was stuck in a town whose power projected the thoughts of those who became trapped. After explaining that he found her alone, with no sign of anyone who might've thought to look for her, Ignazio comforted her with thinly veiled kindness and understanding, promising to look after her when others had failed to do so. In return, she would stay with him no matter what, as she had nothing else to go back to...as she was as lost and alone as he once was.

For a whole year, Ignazio kept the girl under his watch, keeping her locked up in the mansion that they called home. He continued to show kindness whilst encouraging her doubts about herself, making her believe that her family and her so-called 'friends' from another world would never think to look for her, as well as furthering her belief that the latter was all part of a deep fever dream she had while she slept. Even when she thought to argue back, he threatened her in response, going as far as to strike her whenever she crossed a line. She would always back down after that, and he would go back to comforting her and even seducing her, playing on her shallow feelings for him in order to further keep her all to himself.

He only left her alone when he had to hide more evidence of their whereabouts, under the guise of holding a performance elsewhere; each time he had to give an excuse as to why she couldn't come along to watch. Whether it was to fight off the monsters that would try to break in or destroy any sort of manuscript that would tip her off, he did everything in his power to hide the truth, all while believing that the girl remained oblivious and either sating her boredom within the mansion or wallowing in self-pity.

Unfortunately, he didn't take into account of the crows locked in cages, who only made themselves known whenever he let her be. Because of this, she'd been finding out the truth bit by bit, while he remained unaware of her actions.

That all changed once the year went by. Initially playing up his loving facade, Ignazio found her trying to get out through the front doors, which were locked from the outside. He demanded to know what she was doing, bringing his forceful side to the fore. However, the girl didn't back down this time; she had found out the truth, showing him a sheet of paper that had the cult's sigil on it to prove her point. She confronted him over his lies, called him out for what he really was: a manifestation born from her own sick mind to keep her trapped in her own delusions.

That fact, as well as his place in the world being threatened, caused him to snap. In their violent struggle, he pinned her to the ground, desperate to keep his hold on her, to make her "his" in any way he can. But then, the girl did the unthinkable: she grabbed for a shard from a mirror that broke in their struggle, and stabbed him in the left eye, leaving him screaming in the utmost agony and writhing in pain while he held his bleeding eye. Because of this, he lost his hold on her, unable to chase after her as she made her escape by jumping out from the second floor window.

By the time he could bring himself back on his feet, still in utter pain from the loss of his eye, she was already gone. Not just disappearing into the lake like many hapless victims in the past, but gone from the world entirely. Escaping from her own deluded world...denying him his purpose...

His screams of pain turned to rage, taking it out on his surroundings. Destroying many material possessions, breaking more mirrors, tossing furniture aside. He'd been about to tear out the pages of a book that was left lying around, only to open to a page that detailed an occult ritual, this discovery just barely subsiding his anger. In his desperate attempt to regain his purpose, to keep his place in the world, he decided to perform the ritual, using the blood of his bleeding eye, other self-inflicted wounds, and, in retribution for their interference, the blood of the caged crows as the basis.

The result was further agonizing, the initial strain knocking him unconscious. But, when Ignazio awoke, he had been granted powers beyond what a simple manifestation could do. Willing destructive black flames from seemingly nothing, a red eye to replace the one he lost, that, as he discovered with a mirror, created illusions of his design, as well as allowing him to read the minds of others, as he tested on a living crow before promptly disposing of it. With his newfound power, he decided to take advantage of the law-breaking nature of the Convergence and leave the very town that he was otherwise bound to.

And so, with his own fire, he did just that, magically teleporting out of Silent Hill and into the other worlds. In accordance with his powers, Ignazio D'Aleo took on a different name, Ignis Fatuus, considering himself to truly be a will-o'-the-wisp. He kept up his acts as a showman in the other worlds in order to make a living, keeping his true nature hidden from his audience. All the while, he pursued the girl who escaped him, knowing that she was out there somewhere, and he would do everything in his power to track her down and take back what 'belonged' to him.

But, until that time comes, Ignis Fatuus will look for satisfaction and fun elsewhere...
