Kira - Ghost in the Machine Empty Kira - Ghost in the Machine

Post by Gregzilla Wed Dec 04, 2019 11:55 am

    World of Origin: Haloverse

    Name: Kira

    Age: 8 (chronologically), 25 (physically)

    Gender: Female

Species: Smart Artificial Intelligence / Cybernetically-Enhanced Natural Replica

Appearance: Kira has what appears to be white eyes with silver pupils and a slim grey ghosting around where the edges of the irises would be. Her wavy red hair reaches down to a slight bit past her shoulders. When she uses her powers, her eyes have running code through them in a light blue. Running up and down her body is a stream of circuitry that may seem all but invisible when she is not using her magic, but easily deduces the flow of her power once said magic is active. Most of the time, her skin tone is that of a pale, but natural, shade for a human, or at least that is what her near-constant nanite-based disguise shows. Her true skin color is generally a pale blue, though the skin tone is only really noticeable if close up, and otherwise can be misconstrued as just a very pale person. Instead of blood, she has a stream of silver nanites running through her body. Otherwise, aside from someone looking in on her body intensively and finding her magi-technological essence and the alloys and polymers that work in the place of organic material, or looks at the circuitry that makes up her DNA, she can easily pass for human. She has two key outfits.

For the most part, she wears a dark blue set of sleeveless armor fitted to her body with slightly lighter gray pants, along with combat boots in a similar dark color to the armored top, along with two dark blue gloves. The outfit has a light blue cloak, along with a visor over her head that can be retracted to just cover the top of her head, or expanded to cover her eyes if she is using her magic. She also wears a pale blue bracer on her upper arm. The holster for her weapon is on her left hip. For her in this outfit, see here.

When she wants to lay low, she wears a khaki set of cargo pants, a blue shirt, and white and green hooded jacket, along with dark sneakers.

Personality: Kira is very deadpan in many instances. She isn't entirely emotionless, but prefers to keep her feelings close to the chest, liking to keep to the job. However, she does have people she cares about, and can get annoyed when they are in trouble. In spite of her apparent stoicism, she has a playful side to her when it comes to hacking, leading people along and tricking them.

She believes that in spite of how she was made, she is bereft of an actual heart, and so extreme sadness and the like are malfunctions. However, she hates when others bring that kind of subject up, feeling that she has a right to emotional responses, even if she prefers not to indulge in them.

Underneath it all, Kira is deathly afraid of being captured again, as she was by the Flood. She knows she only escaped by sheer luck of the mystical materials around, and is frightened by the idea of it happening again, which results in her trying to keep out of sight as per her skill set. Furthermore, while she burst through the other end of rampancy, she is hesitant to show too much emotion in case she is going to slip back into it. As a result of these facts, while her skills would make her an excellent sniper, Kira tries to avoid confrontation, instead using stealth whenever possible to get away from confrontations or deal with them from a safe space.

Kira is addicted to knowledge, wanting to learn as much as she can, on top of applications of said knowledge. This treatment of information as a drug to her can be used against her with priceless, rare intelligence or corrupted data. When it comes to fellow spies or hackers, she has a grudging respect at times, but when someone is working toward the same goals as her using similar tactics, including stealing technology from those she dislikes so long as they aren't hurting anyone she cares about, she can admit to liking them. However, while she does take as much as she can, she is not adverse to sharing said information with others.

In terms of others' experimentation, as much as she may hate them at times, she is constantly curious about what they are after, to the point of seeing Vexen, head of the Replica Program that inspired her continued existence, as a curiosity, not to mention technically a father figure on some level.

While it may not appear relevant, Kira is asexual, acknowledging certain people may be attractive, but having no romantic feelings at all.

As a minor side note, when speaking, Kira tends to have a Cockney/East London accent if not imitating someone else, minus rhyming slang.

Powers: Has two sets of powers; her own body's internal makeup, and her magic.
    - Scanner Sight: Can scan targets with her sight for a variety of apparent characteristics, including probable emotions, stress, medical trauma, and apparent items on them. This form of sight also allows her to zoom in on objects in her surroundings as if looking through a lens or scope. Must be activated manually. Further analysis requires deeper research.

    - Data Split: Kira can split off portions of her power by temporarily splitting away a piece of her own code into the processes, at the expense of efficiency and some of her magical power for a time, but with the benefit of not being stuck inside of the machine. This potential piece functions as a separate artificial intelligence that can perform processes such as active translation from other languages for others to hear, a spotter for sniping, or use of her magical hacking potential.

    - Internal Nanite Manipulation: Can manipulate the nanites within her body to various effects through limited self-fabrication.
-- Nanite Disguise: Can manipulate her internal nanites, along with mystical mutagenic enzymes, to give her a fair human skin tone, and often does when undercover.
-- Nano Regeneration: She can speed herself up or enhance her own healing, as well as bleed (or even just spit) them out to repair machinery as a healing factor.[LOCKED]
-- Nanite Cloud: Release nanites that swarm and capture incoming energy from an attack, increasing subsequent resistance to that type of damage (elemental) and allowing that type of damage to be applied to a subsequent attack.[LOCKED]
--- Nanite Aegis: Transfer the damage resistance to someone else, at the expense of her own.
-- Nanite Grenade: Compress nanites into a small, handheld explosive to release them, sacrificing the extra attack damage and defense.[LOCKED]
-- Nanite Construction: Can project nanites from her body formed into technology, expelling it through her skin, for temporary objects (not weapons, but small tools for others' use).[LOCKED]
-- Nano Surge: She can speed up her own body for a short amount of time, enough for a brief burst of power or to get out of range of some far off target. However, doing so exhausts her quickly and lets off a significant burst of power alongside a heightened glow from her circuitry, and so is not a particularly viable option in most situations, especially those involved with stealth.[LOCKED]

    - Cyber Magic: The name of her magic is a bit inaccurate, as she deals in all forms of technology, not just those involved with electricity and cyberspace. As part of her existence as a cybernetic rogue, she has access to a variety of technological abilities that function even in magical worlds. These abilities are powered by magic, but adhere to high-technological principles. In the absence of blatant technology, these powers can be used for the closest equivalent, such as golems, though with more difficulty still. Each of these powers can be "overcharged" to enhance their abilities, at the expense of additional mana or exhaustion, and said power can involve pure information, electricity, or nanotechnology. The core representation of the magic is a mixture of holograms, electricity, and liquid metal.

-- Aether Net: Create a connection between different machines or technologies where none existed before to communicate between them.

-- Hack Infrastructure: Is capable of remotely hacking into various technologies by interfacing with them. The higher the technology, the harder it is for her to have full control over everything it can do (especially if there is an integrated sentient artificial intelligence), but for lower technologies such as pre-industrial elements, she can still remotely force them to act, though not beyond what they were created to do.

-- Digital Surf: Capable of leaving her body to dive into a system and control it. As a downside, her body is still vulnerable as she does this, so she needs support if necessary to fulfill the hack. If her body is successfully injured, she automatically is returned to it, even if it has been captured.

-- Stealth Field: Can utilize an integrated active camouflage field to hide herself from view, enabling light to bend around her. This ability is primarily for sight, though it does somewhat muffle sounds a bit. It can be used to affect others around her, but doing so takes more concentration, and it does not extend to things she may drop, such as body fluids from a fight. Using this power can cost a lot of mana, and remains until let down or disrupted by being attacked or otherwise impacted by someone or something. This technique does allow for attacks to be made while invisible, but doing so increases the strain and can cause the field to collapse and render her visible. If trained, the spell can be cast without further mana usage after initial casting, though with the same problems of attacking while invisible.

-- Firewall: A hard light wall of digital, electrical magic energy emerges between Kira and an assailant. The defense works best against projectile attacks (magic or otherwise), but it can be walked through, dealing electrical damage to the entity moving through it in the process, but not outright keeping them away.

-- Smart Disguise: Capable of disguising oneself as someone else through the use of holograms and vocal replication. With practice, this can include imitation of their supernatural capabilities to a small degree by way of a temporary soft patch of residual mystical or technological energies, at least enough to pass most suspicion, but not enough to be directly effective in combat.[LOCKED]

-- Magitech Soul Burst: Can empower her strikes with, or even outright throw, a nanotechnology-based electronically-charged ectoplasmic energy from her nature as both a wraith and a digital being, which can deal spiritual or electrical damage.[LOCKED]

-- Technoviral Possession: Can leave her core body to possess another machine, or even a cyborg, though they have a possibility of locking her out with force of will.[LOCKED]

-- Technopathic Voice: Can control basic technologies by voice (primarily those that are not being externally monitored) using a small metallic node etched with arcane symbols attached to her larynx.[LOCKED]

-- Junk: Dissemble technology into its component parts. Cannot be used on equipped items (armor, weapons). More difficult on larger and more complex devices, and must be manually put back together. Using this spell makes performing additional actions with cyber magic on the technology affected harder until reassembled into a new form.[LOCKED]

-- Security Seal: A second level of "Firewall," this power creates a wall of hard light between the caster and assailants. If used in a passageway, it covers the area like a sealed door without an opening.[LOCKED]

-- Arcane Battery: Can drain energy from a technological device or magic item to empower her own magic, or act in the reverse to power up said items with her own reserves.[LOCKED]

-- Holographic Decoy: Capable of sending off a hard light holographic illusion as a distraction. This decoy does not make sound unless the technology of the area allows it. By overcharging the decoy, it can be composed of hard light and interact with its environment.[LOCKED]

-- Teleporter: Can teleport a short distance. In low technology worlds, it is limited to five meters, but the more advanced the world, the further she can go, riding on electrical or otherwise technological signals to travel far distances through them. While teleportation back to her ship is possible, the necessary power to overcharge her to that degree is too high for most situations.[LOCKED]

    - Link with Azumi Tamashī: Due to their past together, Kira has an intrinsic link with the military operative Azumi Tamashī. Once they make contact, they have an ability to share thoughts with one another by way of Kira's technomancy and Azumi's neural interface, which were split apart in the Convergence, in addition to being able to better use mystical technomancy together. This link also allows Kira to see events through Azumi's eyes, and to feel her sensory input in the same manner, as well as cancel out her former partner's darker technomantic abilities.

    Abilities:
    - Accelerated Perceptions: Due to being a smart artificial intelligence, Kira analyzes things at a far faster rate than many others, a state exacerbated when in times of extreme stress. For reference, she often processes things at a rate of forty seconds in her personal time frame versus one second in real time. This does not mean that she is just reacting to reflexes, but that she can quickly process things and react to them in a manner that others may assume is reflex based. However, she cannot react to cues that truly do not exist, and so can be caught off guard with surprise moves or when she is particularly focused.

    - Adept Agility and Acrobatics: While Kira is not particularly physically strong, she is capable of moving quickly through various physical obstacles so long as her weapon is stored due to her dexterity and light frame.

    - Parallel Processing: Capable of performing many tasks simultaneously, primarily in terms of thinking about or calculating various options, or fitting various ships or other machines. In combat, this can allow her to, if she slows down her hack slightly, split her focus between firing her weapon with one hand and hacking into a system with the other hand. However, each of these actions will be less effective individually.

    - Computer Savvy: As a machine herself, she can hack into most systems, allowing her to augment or otherwise control vast amounts of machinery even without her magic. However, doing so without magic requires direct input, be it by interfacing directly with the machine or typing out manually. When typing, she is inhumanly fast.

    - Cyberpathic Senses: Due to her intrinsic connection to technological systems, Kira is capable of sensing when another individual has entering a system she is accessing. She can see other entities that exist in a dataspace, and can interact with them and they can interact with her, if there is such a space overlapping with the existing world (as in not a dimension without that cyberspace, such as a virtual reality). However, this depends upon her being connected to said system and having enough focus to recognize the intrusion.

    - Stealth: As a rogue-like being, she excels in sneaking around, especially given her body does not technically have a heartbeat.

    - Lockpicking: Due to her skill in figuring out how systems work on account of being an artificial intelligence, Kira is capable of using that skill in identifying how to pick locks very efficiently.

    - Electrical Weakness: Due to still being at her core an artificial intelligence, Kira is especially vulnerable to electrical magic and electromagnetic attacks, with exception of her own.

    - Digital Vulnerability: Much like robots, she is vulnerable to mechanical infections, though she has some more resistance due to her magical construction.

    - Liminal Existence: Her atypical state causes a variety of changes in her. She is icy cold to the touch. Her heart beats once every minute. She doesn’t appear to breathe while asleep, though she does require air (albeit less than many others) to survive.

    - Expert Marksmanship (Long-Range): Due to her assembled skills and limited need to breathe, Kira is a very good markswoman at long range, though that ability ls less effective at medium to close range.

    - Limited Passive Technological Scrambling: Even when not using her stealth field, Kira is noticeable blurry on technological cameras, enough to be harder to identify unless they know she is the blurry presence to look for. This does not extend to magical or psychic-based cameras.

    - Technological Link: If disconnected from all technology and bereft of her magic, Kira may feel physically ill, more than many other magic users. This effect is only prominent if she is deliberately disconnected, rather than just being in a place without technology.

    - Nanite Bleeding: Integration of new technologies can overload her system, causing her to bleed badly in the process. The nanites may not come out of her immediately, but may burst through her skin from recent injured areas while she sleeps, causing her pain when she wakes up (and potentially staining the areas she sleeps.

    Weapons:
    - Flake: This select-fire rifle is intricately tied to her magic, Being dark gray with blue light seemingly holding it together with a mixture of hard light and magical energy. By channeling her power through it, she can augment the strength of the attacks or charge the ammunition with electricity, at the expense of her mana reserves. The weapon has a technomystical sound and flash suppressor incorporated that makes the gun completely silent and useful for stealth. The barrel can also be extended for use as a sniper rifle for long-range attacks. When not out, it is compressed and easily put into a holster on her hip.

    - Specter: A mystical short-range electrical weapon built into her hands. She can release it through a fist or a palm, but generally acts as a very short range shock attack, and is only useful as an emergency weapon.

    Equipment:
    - Mystical Phone: An augmented Gummiphone that allows a connection even in places considered impossible, such as between planes of existence (such as while in a dream or cyberspace).
-- Necradio: Using residual mystical or technological impulses, including from the air itself, Kira can visualize or even communicate with spirits using this device as well through what she calls her "astral bypass processor."

    - Smartmatter Module: A bracer on her upper arm that is formed of enchanted smartmatter and functions akin to a upgrade seed in relation to her various capabilities. It can be used to enhance the power of her abilities (including her emergency "Specter" weapon), or allow her to integrate her magic and technology much more easily, especially when not close enough to have direct maintenance on a particular system.

    - Nanotool: A small collection of her blood nanites formed into a small, handheld ball or cube, this device can be used as a multitool for all kinds of functions, primarily in terms of manipulating the physical environment where technology is not advanced enough (e.g., a nanite-formed reusable lockpick).

    - Data Drive of Holding: A data drive composed of nanotechnology that can fit into nearly any system and download their information, with a seemingly infinite capacity.

    - Projector: Holographic projector in her palms and chest to enable her to visualize data. Holograms in this form are not hard light, but are simply blue transparent images.

    - Drones: A collection of nanotechnological robots that act as survey drones, small enough to appear like a grey, metallic cloud emerging from her mouth. Can be used to scout ahead a short distance or to glean information from above an area. When possessing the drones, Kira cannot interact with her body, and unlike hacking, she cannot directly return to it if it is damaged, feeling the pain but being unable to respond to it. The only way that her mind returns to her body is if the cloud is destroyed or the cloud actually returns to her.[LOCKED]

    Awareness: Yes.

History: Kira was a smart Artificial Intelligence of the United Nations Space Command, and had been sent along to aid Azumi Tamashī on her job with the Spirit of Fire. With the fall of a world, perhaps even an entire universe, to the Heartless and Unversed, she was left adrift, not enough of a person to be drawn down into the dark, not enough of a machine to be destroyed.

Left as a crystal chip for over a year, during which she was held captive by what remained of the Flood presence on that planet for the vast majority, she was driven nearly mad from boredom when she crashed through a group of magical debris containing the likes of Electrum, Damascus, Adamantite, Fluorite, and more, all infusing her progressively with magical power, shattering the chip in the process, but trapping her spirit within. The effect was as if the worlds were creating a natural version of an experimental being being formed by another scientist elsewhere.

As she had learned more and more, the magic buffeting her and changing her, her existence as part of a cosmic game in a literal sense became just as evident. She took the revelation well, all things considered, but mostly because she had assumed her existence as a seven-year-maximum lifespan was a cosmic joke anyway.

By the time she had been fully formed, encased within a meteorite of various mystical materials, she had become a complete physical being. It took quite a while to overcome her shock (relatively short by human spans, but quite long for her quickened perceptions), but by the time the rock struck a mountainside in the wastes of Radiant Garden, she had had time to, with her still artificial intelligence-based mind, figure out at least the gist of what she could do. Aware that she was not made for heavy combat, she decided that taking the path of a rogue, of a trickster of sorts, was her best option.

Azumi Tamashī could be dead, or she could not be. It didn't matter. She was going to live her own life for once.

Hobbies: Researching various subjects, learning new things.
