World of Origin: Fairport (F.E.A.R. Series)

    Name: Clarice Wade

    Age: 26

    Gender: Female

Appearance: Standing 5 foot 9 inches and weighing 145 pounds, Clarice has a trim and fit build due in part to being part of the military. Her hair, black in color, is pulled back into a tight low bun on the back of her head to prevent any coverage of her blue eyes, save for two strands which drape in front of her ears down to her neck. She constantly wears her FEAR military outfit, a dark-tinted set of sleek armor plating around her chest, thighs and shoulders coupled with a form-fitting two-piece black body suit, a balaclava, velcro-tightened gloves, steel-toed combat boots and a tactical visor with built-in radio comms. Underneath her body suit, she wears a pair of black tactical BDU shorts along with a black sleeveless t-shirt. The only thing that contrasts with her military look is that her skin has a strangely pale color to it, contrary to her level of outdoor activity.

    Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Personality: To the majority of the world she appears quite apathetic and distant, preferring to stay quiet and just keep watch rather than directly intervene under her own prerogative. When she does act, it is most commonly under orders to do so, following them without any hesitation as she views those in authority with deep respect. The only real time this deviates is when she is dealing with others who have notable telesthetic (aka psychic) abilities that they do not understand or comprehend, for she shows them sympathy and a sense of understanding regarding their plight.

Even among her colleagues she prefers to keep herself away outside of missions, often being the first to prep for said missions and the last to be debriefed. She tends to avoid extended contact with them, as she finds their proclivity towards macho posturing to be extremely irritating. When put into a position where she is dead-set on her perspective by her colleagues where she disagrees, she won't buckle and will remain steadfast, to the point of being extremely forceful and downright furious in her responses.

When she is the sole figure of a person's attention outside of a conversation or a mission, she often finds herself unable to actively process the situation. As such, she can be convinced to do things she is not exactly comfortable about by those who are far more charismatic under the guise of it being a way to better herself.

When she is around others who she feels comfortable with, she allows herself the opportunity to relax a bit more, becoming slightly more social and more open to more general conversation. She feels the most comfortable around those who are capable of being empathetic and understanding, people who can sympathize with her and be willing to listen if and when she speaks.

Powers: Telesthetic Touch - Upon direct contact with her skin (usually through her fingertips), Clarice is able to make use of her telesthetic powers to link herself with persons, objects or environments. With these links, she's able to recall the memories of the person, object or environment, as well as leave her own telesthetic imprint upon others in the form of hallucinations. Others with telesthetic abilities are able to actively resist the effects of her telesthetic touch, while those with magical powers are able to passively disrupt it due to the nature of conflict between the two.

Cryokinesis - When under periods of intense pressure or anger, the environment begins to undergo a rapid and pronounced drop in temperature which can inhibit the actions of those within the area of effect. If Clarice's anger and/or pressure is focused on a certain entity or object, the effect become more pronounced as they can become encased in ice, or in the most extreme cases have their forms completely freeze and be subject to immediate destruction. Those with telesthetic abilities have a small buffer of defense against the effects, and those with magic are able to counter it completely with appropriate fire-based magics.

Psi-Shot - When her weapons run out of ammunition and she has targets who pose a threat at a distance, she is able to focus a portion of her telesthetic energy into creating a fist-sized projectile that can be launched at a target. While the damage that is caused by this attack are on par with getting hit by a punch, it also carries a psychological effect that can either cause fear, confusion, or blind rage on the intended target for a period of time. The psychological effects are reduced against those with telesthetic or magical abilities.

Telesthetic Conditioning - Due to the actions of Armacham, Clarice was subjected to intensive telesthetic amplification which not only augmented her innate abilities, but also triggered her telesthetic abilities to begin defending her from active threats. As such, her telesthetic energy is able to provide a buffer zone against direct damage. If damage is incurred on her, Clarice is likewise able to heal herself by use of her telesthetic energy.

Abilities: Special Forces Training - As a member of F.E.A.R., Clarice had to undergo traditional training equivalent to becoming a member of US Special Forces. This includes traditional and nontraditional warfare (including hand-to-hand combat), battlefield tactics, medical treatment, maintaining combat and communications equipment, among many other aspects.

Weapons: AT-14 Pistol - A standard sidearm for FEAR agents on the field, this 18-round pistol is a surprisingly powerful semi-automatic weapon. In particular, this handgun was given to Clarice by her guardian.

FD-99 Sub-Machine Gun - Co-developed by Andra and Armacham, the FD-99 SMG is a 50-round weapon able to be used in full auto as well as a three round burst fire. It is best used at short range with burst fire.

P-12 Shotgun - Developed by Monoloth Armaments, the P-12 is a short-framed pump-action shotgun featuring a massive 20 round top-loading box magazine. While still officially a prototype, she makes use of it for field testing.

Karambit - A smaller curved knife with a passive resemblance of a claw or talon, this double-edged knife was chosen by Clarice for not only its ergonomic design but also for it being incredibly difficult to disarm since her version makes use of a finger ring.

Equipment: Tactical Visor - Part of her FEAR outfit, her tactical visor is able to keep track of various aspects of note for Clarice: Her health, her ammunition both on hand as well as in reserve for the weapon equipped, being able to highlight enemy targets as well of objects of interest, as well as receiving communications.

History: The child conceived between Michael Becket and Alma Wade, Clarice was born in the events that led to the death of Michael Becket, the dissolution of Alma Wade and the desolation of the city of Fairport. Raised by her half-brother, the former F.E.A.R. Point Man, Clarice's childhood was substantially peaceful, as the Point Man ensured that she was to be given a safe, nurturing and loving home. When she came of age, she made the choice to follow in the footsteps of her adoptive father and join the military. While the Point Man was hesitant to do so, he felt as thought he had given Clarice enough of a balanced life to achieve a level of maturity needed to survive in the military, so in turn he acquiesced.

Having gone through Special Forces training, she was eventually picked up by the same branch of special forces Point Man was a part of: First Encounter Assault Recon, or FEAR. Joining the group, she had to wait years before she was sent out on her first mission: The targeted takedown of a confirmed Telesthetic near the Canadian Border. While she attempted to try and get the target to peacefully submit, a fellow FEAR agent took action and eliminated the target with a single sniper round.

The events of that mission had a toll of Clarice, as she was just about to get the target to surrender. Arguing with the agent that took the shot, the first signs of her own telesthetic abilities were appearing with the immediate destruction of numerous fragile objects all at one time without any action from anyone. Though the fight was broken up by the commanding officer, this event put friction between Clarice and her fellow soldiers as they begun to distrust each other.

Sent out with the team on her second mission, Clarice went to the repopulated Fairport, as reports had begun to trickle in of unexplained phenomena centralized in the rebuilt Auburn District. To the surprise of her and the other FEAR soldiers, they found themselves ambushed by a paramilitary force that resulted in the deaths of 2 FEAR soldiers and all the others captured, Clarice included. Unknown to them, they were lured there with the aforementioned reports by someone in the pocket of Armacham, a weapons development company with contracts and a keen interest in individuals with telesthetic potential for battlefield use.

Captured by Armacham, Clarice was subjected to a series of experiments and medical procedures that brought her telesthetic abilities to the forefront. As she awoke, her abilities flared up, threatening to overwhelm her as she was trying to escape. At the moment of the greatest flare-up, the effects of the Convergence hit her, pulling her away from Fairport.
